Past Events Highlight

AI Explorer Series Workshop

In this AI Explorer workshop happened on May 24th, students and families explored the foundational concept of multilayer perceptrons, a key building block of modern artificial intelligence.

Through simple explanations and interactive examples, participants learned how information flows through layers in a neural network, how patterns are recognized, and how AI systems improve over time.

The workshop focused on making complex ideas accessible and engaging, helping students understand how modern AI is built from simple layered structures

Our invited speaker, Perry Cai, is a senior at Belmont High School, recently admitted to California University. He is interested in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer science, with a focus on data science applications. He has worked on projects involving data analysis, computer vision, and neural networks.

Life Science Explorer Series Workshop

In March and April, Little Wonders Arts Academy hosted two Kid’s Life Science Explorer workshops at Belmont Library, focusing on stem cells and red blood cells.

The series began with a discussion led by Annie Wu, our art instructor, on the connection between art and science—both rooted in curiosity, imagination, and exploration.

Guest speaker, Dr. Jie Li, a specialist in stem cells and red blood cells at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, introduced key concepts in life science, including how stem cells develop into different cell types in the body.

Using simple analogies and interactive explanations, Dr. Li helped students understand complex biological ideas in an accessible and engaging way. Students actively participated throughout the sessions, asking questions and exploring scientific concepts with curiosity.

This workshop series reflects Little Wonders’ ongoing effort to connect creativity with science and inspire curiosity-driven learning.
